Do Antioxidants reduce the risk of cancer?

Can antioxidants prevent cancer or cure or stop or reduce the risk? which one is more accurate and basically how do they help our body?

Strong and Considerable laboratory evidence from chemical, cell culture, and animal studies indicates that antioxidants may slow or possibly prevent the development of cancer. Thats the answer you officially get for these questions and actually how we have been believing it is like for the last decades.

However, information from recent clinical trials is less clear. In recent years, large-scale, randomized clinical trials reached inconsistent conclusions. There is also some doubts on the fact that if the antioxidant supplements work the same as natural foods.
