“a substance that inhibits oxidation, especially one used to counteract the deterioration of stored food products. a substance that removes potentially damaging oxidizing agents in a living organism.” Antioxidants may play a role in the management or prevention of some medical conditions, inflammations, illnesses, pains, such as some cancers, macular degeneration, Alzheimer’s disease, and some arthritis-related conditions.
